MI MIRADA
Soy Bernardo Coronel, nací en el Distrito Federal de México en 1991. A los 16 años tomé un taller de producción audiovisual con un enfoque comunitario, el curso era impartido por una Asociación Civil a la que me incorporé poco después, allí adquirí conciencia de la importancia que tienen las herramientas de comunicación visual para denunciar situaciones de injusticia e inequidad social, sin duda esa noción me ha acompañado desde entonces.
En 2009 estudié una Carrera Técnica de Fotografía en la Escuela Nacional Preparatoria, gracias a ello descubrí una vocación que continuó por el camino de la auto formación. Ese mismo año comencé a trabajar en un estudio de fotografía publicitaria, donde pude aprender aspectos técnicos sobre la creación de imágenes a nivel editorial, así como el desarrollo de una estética comercial. Estos conocimientos también se han integrado desde entonces en mi obra, permitiendo que exista en ella un contraste entre los valores estéticos y temáticos.
Durante el 2013 cursé el programa de formación artística contemporánea en PLATAFORMA A.C. que contaba con docentes de distintas disciplinas como
el crítico y curador de arte Erik Castillo, el fotógrafo Pavka Segura, la artista de performance Katnira Bello y el escritor Iván Farías, entre otrxs. Como resultado de este periodo cree dos series fotográficas "Ecuación Visual" y "Estructuras Efímeras" que un año más tarde obtendrían el segundo lugar en el Concurso PORTFOLIO 2014, convocado por Centro ADM y Fundación Bancomer.
A finales del 2014 comencé a trabajar como fotógrafo en el periódico Reforma, retratando a las elites mexicanas para la sección de sociales. A partir de ello pude desarrollar la serie "1:1" reflejo de la cotidianidad en la que conviven distintas esferas económicas de nuestra sociedad.
En 2017 me uní al proyecto editorial del Heraldo de México, esta vez como fotógrafo de información general, mi estancia coincidió con las elecciones presidenciales de 2018, gracias a ello realicé la serie "Política Ficción" que integra imágenes de los actores políticos y sociales, donde planteo interrogantes personales sobre el sistema político mexicano.
Durante 2019 cursé el programa de formación documental de la productora Artegios, con profesores como el Director Everardo González, la periodista Daniela Rea y el Director Juan Francisco Urrustí, entre otrxs. También ese año, pude ingresar al penal femenil de Santa Martha Acatitla con la A.C. Mujeres en Espiral, para crear juntxs el primer recetario canero, que denuncia las carencias alimentarias de las mujeres privadas de su libertad.
Desde el 2019 soy fotógrafo a cuenta propia, desarrollo proyectos comerciales, documentales y de creación autoral. Durante el 2020 he cubierto distintas situaciones derivadas de la Pandemia por la COVID19, como fotoperiodista y realizador independiente.

I am Bernardo Coronel, I was born in the Federal District of Mexico in 1991. At the age of 16 I took an audiovisual production workshop with a community focus, the course was taught by a Civil Association that I joined shortly after, there I became aware of the The importance of visual communication tools to denounce situations of injustice and social inequality, without a doubt that notion has accompanied me since then.
In 2009 I studied a Technical Degree in Photography at the National Preparatory School, thanks to which I discovered a vocation that continued on the path of self-training. That same year I started working in an advertising photography studio, where I learned technical aspects about creating images at the editorial level, as well as developing a commercial aesthetic. This knowledge has also been integrated into my work since then, showing a contrast between aesthetic and thematic values.
During 2013 I attended the contemporary artistic training program at PLATAFORMA A.C. which had teachers from different disciplines such as
art critic and curator Erik Castillo, photographer Pavka Segura, performance artist Katnira Bello and writer Iván Farías, among others. As a result of this period, I created two photographic series "Visual Equation" and "Ephemeral Structures" that a year later would obtain second place in the 2014 PORTFOLIO Contest, convened by the ADM Center and the Bancomer Foundation.
In late 2014 I started working as a photographer for the Reforma newspaper, portraying Mexican elites for the social section. From this I was able to develop the series "1: 1", reflecting the daily life in which different economic spheres of our society coexist.
In 2017 I joined the editorial project of the Herald of Mexico, this time as a general information photographer, my stay coincided with the 2018 presidential and local elections, I made the series "Political Fiction" that integrates images of political and social actors, where I raise personal questions about the Mexican political system.
During 2019 I attended the documentary training program of the production company Artegios, with teachers such as Director Everardo González, journalist Daniela Rea and Director Juan Francisco Urrustí, among others. Also that year, I was able to enter the women's prison in Santa Martha Acatitla with the A.C. Women in Spiral, to create together the first cookbook, which denounces the food deficiencies of women deprived of their liberty.
Since 2019 I am a photographer on my own, developing commercial, documentary and author creation projects. During 2020 I have covered different situations derived from the Pandemic by COVID19, as a photojournalist and independent filmmaker.
